( It’s been a slow day at the citadel, at least, for actual shounen-notmermaid-turned-person, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki. He’s finished his field work with plenty of time and energy to spare and without any missions to go on, he’s decided to have some fun for himself.
… Unfortunately, a certain saniwa has hidden their phone away. Wow, talk about no fun. He really wanted to play that one game again. You know, that one game everyone is playing these days according to the colorful ads on tv. He was getting the hang of it the other day. Actually, he’s pretty sure he was even winning! And he was making so many new friends with those “invites.” Well, you can hide your technology from Mutsu but you can't defeat him.
As much as he enjoys this new time, he still enjoys a lot of the old traditions, just like his first master. Which is why you can find him outside, crouched on the ground in front of a small fire pit, roasting some yams he picked while working the field earlier. It's a little out of season but the seasons don't run his life, they don't control his story.
Before you can ask (were you even going to?) Mutsu notices you hanging around and beckons to come over. Yes, even if you’re a particularly stubborn Shinsengumi sword. )
Hey! C'mon over here!

Hey! C'mon over here!

Hey, miss! Are ya lookin' for the master? They aren't around right now but I can keep ya company if ya want. I even got snacks to share!
no subject
I am, but how unfortunate that I missed your master! Though, I am very grateful for your invitation. [She moves over and sits down, looking at the yams.] They look and smell lovely. Is there anything I can do to help?
no subject
Well, there’s not much to do. Ya just get a stick and turn it over ’till its all done. ( He'll rest the yam he's working on against some of the rocks, away from the direct heat, ) 'S pretty since I did all of the hard work already, haha!
( Just, patting his generous pile in the basket and maybe flexing a little bit before he starts to get a yam and stick ready for Vietnam. )
no subject
Oh! Well, then this will go along rather smoothly. Thank you so much. [She watches the yam for now, since he, for real, already did the hard work.]
You certainly did work hard. [Matches his tiny flex with a tiny fist pump. That's why he did it, right???] Do you all do this often, here? Tend to the fields and animals?
no subject
That's right. 'S least we can do since master brought us here 'n everything, y'know? 'Sides we can't all go fighting at the same time either so everyone's gotta do what they can.
no subject
I see, so these are the master's fields? [She looks around. The saniwa's lands are quite vast, but she never knew who actually owned it. Probably not the government, then?] Doing this must be much more relaxing than fighting, at least?
no subject
At the end of the day though, we're swords 'n swords're more suited for fighting than farm work. But if ya fight all the time ya're gonna get tired after awhile so 's good to do do other things once in awhile.
no subject
True. Fighting must come easy to you. Do you find any of this difficult, though?
[A vague gesture towards the fields.] It's all very well kept.
no subject
Which is why I can't take all the credit!
( BWAHAHAHA, look he's a loud and proud guy but when eh gets praise from someone nice, it's a little embarrassing, heh heh. )
no subject
I see! You can all support each other. I guess you are all learning from each other too. But still! You worked hard, and it shows. Even with just these yams, no?
[TAKE THIS COMPLIMENT, DAMMIT.]
no subject
( No, really, this praise. )

[Ah, it's just getting worse.]
