In another world, another time, the sword boys are fighting hard in a different sort of war. In the harsh battlefield known as… show business. Whether as musicians, idols, dancers, performers, actors or whichever roles they’re contracted to do, they’re all working hard to produce a Great Success and bring in fame to their agency.

All while being supported by their agency and friends, the same people who might be their saniwa(s) or master(s) back in our world.

In this meme, they are normal humans in the tough, fast moving industry that is entertainment.

NOTE: Masters and saniwas can be presidents/producers/managers of the swords. For example (and you don’t HAVE to follow it), Nobunaga Oda can lead the successful Oda Agency, where performers like Yagen have produced hits. Or a saniwa can help manage the schedule and seeking job offers for the swords.

POSITIONS

MUSICIANS - Pop, rock, classical, blues, enka, whichever genre you perform, your music is both your life and your livelihood.

SINGERS - Like musicians, your voice is your most important marketable skill. Hopefully, you can rise to stardom and sing to the hearts of many!

ACTORS - TV shows, movies, stage plays, your acting skill is your worth in performing and move the heart of many. Many of the younger (read: tantou) workers in the industry can find themselves starting off as a young actor, if they can keep up with the demanding schedule.

IDOLS - A mixed role with a focus on being a popular media personality, idols can work a variety of different roles from singing, acting and modelling for advertisements.

STAFF - Behind the scenes and supporting them are the many staff members. From producers to managers and even the president of their agencies, these people are what helped their charge get promoted and finding job opportunities! Hopefully, they make things easier to handle in this stressful industry...

PROMPTS

1. Recruitment: You’ve been scouted! Whether you pass an audition or got the attention of an agency’s staff member, your life is about to change from normal to something more. Once you accept it, going back won’t be easy.

2. First Meeting: Time to meet your coworkers and boss! Whether you’ll be working together as an idol group or following orders from your manager, you’ll have to get along or else life would be rather awkward.

3. Rehearsal: Time to rehearse! For whatever you’re rehearsing for, you better get it right or else you’ll be a laughing stock in the industry. No pressure.

4. First Job: Got the jitters? Clear them out, because this is what rehearsal was supposed to prepare you for. Go out there and blow their minds away!

5. Song Writing: You have to write a new song together, but can you even agree on a theme and the lyrics? Better figure it out before the deadline comes...

6. Fanmails: You hit it big! Big enough to get…fanmails. What kind of letters you received together? Either adorable, silly or sometimes, outright...creepy. Ew, they want to what with you?

7. Free Time - Finally! Work have been so busy, that you can finally have a break or even a day off. How will you spend it? Hopefully, you can spend your break in peace without being seen by fans...

8. Rivalry: You’re not the only one making it big. Other performers and agencies are out there, working hard to get the same job offers as you do, competing for the same audience and customer’s money. Do you get along with your rival? Or do you clash?

9. Scandal: Gasp! Scandals! Whether it’s true or not, your reputation is on the line and unless you do something about it, your life in this industry will be ruined! (Are you sure you’re not sleeping with that person…?)

10. Press Conference: There’s a press conference. What was it about? An important announcement? Chat about it before or after the conference…

11. Fired: For whatever reason, you’re fired. Time to say goodbye? How will you explain this to everyone?

12. Retirement: It’s been a good, long run, but it’s time for you to step down and let the youngin’ to take the stage. Or maybe you’re retired from singing and acting, but you’re open to other ventures… Talk shows? Becoming a manager or producer? Starting your own agency?

[A youthful, teenaged singer-actor! He started out in music first due to his wild enthusiasm and break dancing skills, but there's only so much you can do before you get compared to Justin Bieber. No thanks? So he went into acting for teen flicks and other shows. If anything, at least he's not Miley Cyrus. He's extremely good with action scenes and his old dance skills means he can do his own stunts if it's legal.

However, being part of the Rai Agency means he's stuck with his cute family; the child star Hotarumaru, and the chill heartthrob Akashi Kuniyuki. In order to make sure that Kuniyuki goes to work despite his popularity, and for Hotaru to not get roped into Kuniyuki's lazy schemes, Aizen double ups as a defacto manager (along with the other managers who actually get paid). He's so busy, you have no idea.

[sup fellow actor who is a lot more emotionally talented. YOU BET what about both. Gawking at a box of fan mail in the middle of rehearsals because when did this arrive!!!]

Although they're from different agencies, it's common for different actors to work together with their competitors/rivals. Especially when it comes to acting in a movie, play or TV show. Sayo is currently reviewing his script for the movie. Predictably, his role is an emotionally charged young child. The basic cliches are familiar to him, he just need to understand their motivations...

While he do that and whatever Aizen is doing, someone came into the studio and put down a big box full of fanmails on top of a table.

"Phew, finally!"

Wait, what?]

[ Yamanbagiri went into show business hoping to make it big, like many before him. However... he didn't know that one of those people before him was a mirror image of himself. The gig he landed was stunt double to the other rising star.

The agency loves it. They don't have to worry about their star getting injured since they have a spare who can be beat up and run ragged. Yamanbagiri... finds having the same appearance of the star only gives him trouble, and he takes to wearing a huge white hoodie every time he's off set to avoid people mistaking him for the real thing. Fans are crazy, and no, he isn't okay with taking a picture or signing your baby. He's not even the star they're fawning over.

Getting the bills paid is nice though. ]

[[ No real preferences. I like the idea they've met before on filming sites. Maybe they've had a few gigs together but have yet to really talk until now. Perhaps the catering is really good this shooting. ]]

[ After having fallen of a balcony following a sword slice and landing on a mat outside of the frame, Yamanbagiri waits for the director to yell "Cut!" Only then does he gets up, puts on his hoodie, and dusts himself off. It's a little after noon, and the catering has just been laid out on the long folding tables.

However, Yamanbagiri has passed over the main course for the end of the table. Various pastries and sweets cover serving trays. These treats look good enough to grace the cover of a cooking magazine. Who's catering the gig this time? Is a sponsor for the show involved?

It may be lunch time, but dessert is good too. ]

[On his end, Sayo had just finished shooting his own scene. Although he performed as great as always, it did leave him a little thirsty by the end. When it's time for them to take a break, Sayo made his way over towards the tables for a drink.

With a cup of water in his hand, Sayo browse the food laid out, walking along until he reaches the dessert end. His eyes glance around until he sees Yamanbagiri - the actor? The stunt double?]

Are these good?

[ So far Yamanbagiri's plate has a cookie of each flavor, a stick of dango, a small mochi, and a slice of pale cake with pink-white frosting on top. He's about to reach for a fork when it registers that Sayo is talking to him instead of someone else. He turns toward Sayo. ]

I haven't tried them yet.

[ The keyword is "yet." All he needs is either a nice cup of tea or a glass of milk, and he'll soon have the answer to Sayo's question. ]

[Sayo quietly nods before he reaches out for a plate. After putting his drink down, he pick up a tong and start getting whatever caught his fancy. It's probably better if he save the desserts for last, but he feels like having something sweet right now.

Now, let's see if he can reach for that orange looking mini-tart... If he's lucky, it might be persimmon.]

[ Restraining himself from reaching for another treat to pile on his plate, Yamanbagiri gives a slight nod back before heading to an empty table. More of the crew are starting to filter in and take in the bounty on the tables. Yamanbagiri thinks he spots his double (even if it's the other way around) and tugs his white hoodie further down his head. It doesn't hide him any. Everyone on the set knows that he's the one in the hoodie and not the main actor.

Similarly, it's hard to hide how Yamanbagiri's eyes light up at the first bite of his cake. Oh this is good. He looks up again to Sayo and gives a much firmer nod. ]

[A veteran in the acting world, he is a face recognized by many and a sought after actor for his appearance and experience, though it was mainly the former that has him win over the hearts of many.

His forte is in jidaigeki, as well as romance dramas and movies, to the delight of many of his female fans.

While his management make him seem almost untouchable, he himself is open to interaction and is happy to mingle with his co-stars, though beneath the on-screen charm lies unglamorous tendencies that would remind you of your own grandpa?]

[ How lucky is it that this tall, white-haired man is assigned to work with the extremely popular and successful Mikazuki Munechika? Very lucky, in fact, he is fortunate that he fit the minor role being offered. At the audition, they said he came in looking exactly the part, too, as a 'messenger of Inari' with the fox ear-esque locks of hair and the strong looking body.

He approaches the experienced actor with confidence, seeming so easy going and relaxed. ]

Mikazuki-san? I am excited to have this opportunity to act with you. [ As he bows, his 'tail' hangs from his shoulder, neatly tied with a blue and yellow ribbon. ]

[Oh, a new co-actor. Meeting new people was always fun, like a breath of fresh air after following his manager's instructions all day.

A simple pleasure, but its on the set where he can freely talk to others.]

Greetings, it's a pleasure to be able to work with you too. My, the costume suits you perfectly. You look just like a fox spirit.

[You have to give credit to the costume designers. The old story of Kokaji was going to be brought to life as a fantasy blockbuster.]

[ They casted the role so well, with the best actor for the job. Supposedly, the directors needed a big name and this was definitely the name they deserved.

He smiles warmly toward the professional, pleased by his words. ]

I'm proud to have gotten the part. It'll be one of my first serious roles. Before this, I did a lot of commercials. "Kitsune Udon, served by a fox!" [ And he presses his ring and middle fingers to his thumb, making the signature gesture for the restaurant. ]

I fear they may be typecasting me for fox-related roles. [ A nervous laugh. ]

[Sayo saw the nod and returns it, acknowledging it. He turns his attention back to grabbing the mini-tart and... got it!

After putting the tongs down, he picks up the mini-tart and eats it. Hmmm.]

...It's orange.

[And not persimmon, unfortunately.]

Ah, I have seen it. I want to drop by one day, but I never get the chance to.

[Being driven around from studio to radio broadcasting station and here and there never gave him the luxury of free time. He started out the same way as well, along with taking jobs as extras in dramas.

Mikazuki puts a few fingers to his chin, and checks his colleague out from head to toe.]

You do seem very fox-like, if I do say so myself. Especially your hair, it looks nice and soft to touch.

[Not a very dignified response, but they are his honest thoughts.]

You must visit one sometime. The tofu is fried perfectly, and it's fun to watch customers gawk and point and double-take.

[ He's awfully amused by the reactions of patrons and tries to be nice to the managers and workers when he goes to one, especially as mascot of sorts.

Kogitsunemaru smiles brightly at the mention of his hair and fox-ness, taking a second to brush some off of his shoulder so it could flow evenly down his back. ]

Thank you. It took me a long time to grow it out this far... you see, it's all natural. [ A quick shake of the head, with the 'tail' swinging side-to-side. ] You can touch it, if you'd like!

[ Ha, dignity. He's happy to get the honest opinion of a master actor like Mikazuki. ]

[ Yamanbagiri tilts his head at Sayo's response. Orange is a common enough flavor and usually a safe bet to be a crowd pleaser. Like apple or strawberry or lemon. Though, with a cast as unique as theirs, maybe the catering decided to add more adventurous kinds of foods to the table. Normally, no one decides to put out this many sweets for lunch. ]

Is it good?

[ He echoes Sayo's question to him. ]

I should have my manager drop by for takeout. Fufu.

[And probably get way too much. The bigger the portion the better, isn't it?

And once the approval is given, he helps himself to Kogitsunemaru's hair. It runs between his delicate fingers like white silken threads, and you can see this veteran actor drop all his professional image completely in an instance.]

Ah, it feels nice to touch. I could do this all day if I could.

[He's serious.]

Must be nice to have a manager. [ He chuckles lightheartedly, knowing that he'd prefer to do things himself if he could. That way, he knows the things he needs doing get done in the way he wants.

He doesn't normally let others near his hair because it was a process to get it right, so even letting the other man do so was a risk but definitely worth taking in this case. And because Mikazuki has such a gentle and thoughtful touch as his fingers grace the longer strands of his white hair, Kogitsunemaru can't help but relax his shoulders and let out a sigh. ]

I'd let you do this all day, if I could.

[ He's also serious, though it might stop him from having a real career... unless this could be one. ]

[Sayo nods and picks up the tongs again. Only this time, it's to offer it to Yamanbagiri.]

It is. You should try it.

[Be...cause Yamanbagiri is taller and have a longer reach than him.]

[ Well, he has finished his cake and a few of his cookies already... Yamanbagiri eyes the tongs, then gets out of his seat to retrieve them. ]

If you say so. It's this one, right?

[ He picks up a treat that looks similar to the one Sayo tried. ]

Do you want to try another one?

[Sayo nods, letting go of the tongs for Yamanbagiri to hold properly.]

Yes... and I want to try the yellow one as well.

[Will it be pineapple? Or lemon? Only the chef would know.]

[ He puts the orange tart down on his plate and goes to grab a yellow tart for Sayo. On the table are some knives, and Yamanbagiri picks up one of those as well. ]

We can try more of them if we share.

[ There would be less food waste as well, not that Yamanbagiri had left anything else on his plate. ]

If sharing with a stunt double is okay with you.

In a way, though I don't have much time for myself personally. [Not that he minds, after all being taken care of is fun.

He seems to take care of it well, it feels even smoother than his own. It isn't his own hair, so he just enjoys the fleeting sensation before Kogitsunemaru might get annoyed. Besides, they should get into their outfits soon, since filming might begin soon.]

Hahaha, how very generous. I need to know your secrets.

[ The way that Mikazuki plays with his hair, there'd be no annoyance. Besides, who else could then say that they had their personal grooming habits complimented on by such a star? No one, that's who. So he'll let the other actor do what he wishes for a while, though he too knows that dressing room time would be soon.

Not like it'd be hard for him, he's already dressed partly. All he's missing is the outer layer of yellow and the various ornamental accessories. ]

The secret is a lot of the right shampoo, conditioner, some time, and a great brush. [ It really is that simple, except having to do it himself every morning. Trust is hard to find when it comes to this kind of thing.

Professional fluff, huh? Pipe dream... ]

I see. Most of the time I'm being taken care of by others, I do not know much about dressing up, actually.

[He's sincere, and a little endearingly straightforward in his words. Like a grandpa, if you would say. Haha.

Only part of his outfit had been donned. Now for the more troublesome outer layers.]

[There's an extra smile just to forward his case. Famous actor, actually hopeless.]

[ It's refreshing to hear Mikazuki speak honestly. Too many actors place too much emphasis in their appearance, words, and representing a false and idealistic persona. Perhaps if it were anyone but the experienced actor, Kogi would've been a little annoyed, but that grandfatherly air allows some understanding.

It's equally reasonable that having many others assist him on a regular basis that he may not be able to completely dress himself. No worries, Mikazuki, he will assist you! ]

Of course. It'd be an honor.

[ What a smile he has... but all in all, it just looks like extra layers. It's not too difficult slipping the last few things on the 'old man', gently directing his arms into sleeves, and doing some tying. ]

I don't mind sharing.

[Sayo have some respect for stunt doubles. They usually have the more physically demanding tasks to do on the set, and they do them without hurting themselves too much.

He reaches out to pick up a knife. He gets what Yamanbagiri is coming from. Cutting the desserts with a knife and share.]

[ Thus starts the join secret operation: Try Every Pastry. Since they have yellow and orange colored tarts, Yamanbagiri grabs a blueish-purple tart and another that is covered with soft white cream. Now that have three new flavors to try out.

He takes them back to the table he was sitting at and pulls a chair out for Sayo. ]

[It is a lot less glamorous than it sounds. While he could afford it, needing others to take care of his daily needs was more of a necessity than a luxury. To put it bluntly, he's pretty (and) useless without his staff.]

Ah, thank you. If you aren't here I would end up a tangled mess, hahaha.

[He would share stories of how some costumes almost got ripped, and some which got ripped. More or less, there were frustrated victims.]

[ And he would listen with hungry ears, enjoying the stories which make him more cautious regarding his approach toward dressing Mikazuki. He doesn't doubt the other actor would be a tangled mess, given how intricate some of the knots ended up having to be and how difficult it ended up being, but he makes do. Failing in front of Mikazuki was not an option! ]

... so what's it like, having all of those fans? [ He asks as he finishes, though his hands linger on the blue-clad man's waist, in order to help himself up from the crouching position he took. ] Does it get tiring?

[On the other hand he should feel embarrassed needing to ask a junior actor to help him, but when you're this useless that shame is no longer that much of an issue...]

Ah, it's nice to see so many adorable admirers.

[He remains calmly still, despite the contact.]

It would be nice to be able to get closer to them, but you know how it can be.

[ There's no shame in this. When everything is done for you for the longest amount of time, it's like not knowing something, and there's no harm in lacking knowledge.

Besides, surely at one point Mikazuki had to deal with the day-to-day issues that plagued him? It probably was easier to have others do the things for him because acting! Reading! Emoting! ]

Haha, well... as an actor and someone who has loved your work... it is mind-blowing, getting to meet you in person.

[Sayo follows after Yamanbagiri and blinks, before he nods and softly say "Thank you". He sits down on the chair and place his plate on the table, before looking up to see if Yamanbagiri sat down already.]

[ He gets to work dividing the tarts into smaller pieces so that they can share. The blueish-purple tart is made of various berries while the cream covered one actually has a chocolate filling. Yamanbagiri uses his knife as a spatula to carefully place the tart halves onto Sayo's plate. ]

Here you go.

[ He'll leave Sayo to cut the yellow tart in half since it's already on his plate. For now, he'll try the blueish-purple tart. ]

Thank you.

[Sayo is cutting the yellow tart in half on his plate. He carefully use both his knife and his fork to carefully pass over one half to Yamanbagiri's plate.]

[He saw Yamanbagiri eating the bluish-purple one.]

It's...

[ No, he won't say it that way. It doesn't matter if it's the best way to describe the flavor. He would not. ]

... It's tart.

[ The corners of his mouth tugged up slightly. A tart tart. He didn't mean for it to be a pun, but there it was. Yamanbagiri feels comfortable around Sayo to indulge his more goofy side. ]

But not bad. It'd be better if the berries were in season.
