( Maki is one of the younger saniwa performing tonight but there's no reason to hope for a pass from judging eyes. She's been raised by the sages for most of her life and this isn't her first ceremony-- it isn't even her second. Shes' been participating in these things for as long as she can remember, whether it was behind the scenes and helping with the offerings or doing the group dances with the training sages. This is, however, her first year performing with one of her own swords.

Maki has chosen her sword already and is practicing with you. Yes, you. She's already gotten her steps down but her focus now is making sure you have the right steps. She's sitting on the patio, singing the performance song and clapping along with the beat, observing you practice. She's a patient teacher but it became clear from the beginning that she was going to take this very seriously. At the end of the first section, she stops singing and stands, applauding.

You're getting better at this! ( She comes around and takes her position in front of you, ) Are you ready for the next part?

( Whaaaaat? No break??? No! And you haven't even tried to do this in full dress yet! )

( Everything that she's done, she's taken seriously. Her training, her work at the citadel, and preparing for the festival. Of course this night was meant to be one of celebration and fun but this is the most important part to her. Hands together, she closes her eyes and bows her head, praying silently before the fire. She's there for a long time before she finally takes her leave, returning down the steps to the one that had escorted her to the prayer site, )

Sorry! I didn't mean to take so long!

( Come at me!!! )
