PROMPT IDEAS 1. How could you let this happen? They wanted to be left alone, their mood was poor, and maybe you should have noticed the signs but now that you have, it’s too late. They can’t stop these thoughts in their head and something in their soul has turned dark and ugly. Is it too late? Maybe you can get through to them… if not, are you ready to draw your sword? 2. Possession. Even the smallest trace of doubt can attract them— evil spirits. Once the dark spirit has latched on to your soul, it takes over and consumes you. Maybe the possession is gradual or maybe it happens suddenly. All you know is that everyone has regrets and anyone can doubt… this could happen to anyone. 3. Cry Wolf. We fought the same battles and shared the same meals together so it was only natural that we would be considered allies and friends. The fateful moment approaches and suddenly it is revealed: One of you is not a true friend. There is a traitor among you. 4. Becoming your own enemy. Your mission is to go back in time and let things happen as they were meant to be but their fall into despair was never supposed to happen, right? And so you went back in time to prevent their misfortunes but you keep failing again and again until, this time, you think you’ve got it. This time, you’ll be able to save your friend - but will you be able to save yourself too? 5. Reborn again. When destroyed in battle, the sword disappears only to return again anew. You can’t choose the fate you’re born with though and this time, someone has returned… from the wrong side. |

Life was always going to be a conundrum. When one was just a blade there wasn't much thought to be given to it, merely doing what the master wanted. And for Ichigo there was nothing more important than that. He may not personally agree with the sword hunt his last master had done, but at the same time it had worked out better for Japan in the long run. Who was he to question such things? The saniwa though... The questioning of their saniwa was a disturbing feeling, enough to have Ichigo's stomach churning, palms slightly clammy. Questioning their master's wishes was wrong, but what were they to do if they felt that the wishes themselves weren't right?
Ichigo takes a deep breath, steeling himself against anything that could happen when he speaks his next words. "I wish we had a different master."

Ichigo's standing among the Awataguchi blades as an older brother was more than visible in the citadel's daily life. The one tachi forged by Yoshimitsu had to stand as a guardian to the younger blades. To take away their greatest source of moral support... That's a questionable decision to say the least. He would leave through the citadel gates, and whether he would return is an uncertainty. What is certain is the sorrow, as in life back in the multitude of eras. Heian, Kamakura, Sengoku, Edo, Bakumatsu, and now.
"I understand. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret. I will take to my grave." His smile is soft, and laced with concern. A sincere smile.
If he would get one.
"It isn't silly to daydream. Sometimes you can get the wildest ideas when you let your mind wander freely. Unconventional sometimes, but that doesn't stop those reckless enough from trying."
The crescent moons glint, his grin is now blade-like.
"Would you care to hear this old man's dream?"

"I'm forever in your debt for keeping it." It wasn't exactly something Ichigo would want reaching the saniwa's ears and if Mikazuki said they wouldn't speak of it, then the matter was closed, simple as. Mentions of daydreaming and wild ideas definitely piques the tachi's interest though, catching his attention with ease. Something has obviously come up somewhere otherwise neither of them would even be awake to have this conversation and Ichigo simply nods and kneels, resting backwards a little as he gets comfortable on his knees.
"I would like to hear it if you wish to tell it." Just what was it that had Mikazuki calling war councils at this time of night? Guesses were simply wild stabs in the dark, and Ichigo knows that whatever it is he's going to want to hear it.

It might even be a worse idea than risking their lives for the sortie ahead.
"Suppose we want to seek out someone new to wield us, we would need to sever our bonds with our current one. Since we cannot just simply run away, there's only one option left."
They are still going to need to draw their blades in the end.

He opens his mouth to point out how stupid and illogical it is yet the words stick in his throat and for a second Ichigo is caught between what he wants, and what should be. What they were even thinking was treason and suddenly Ichigo is painfully aware that anyone could be listening in. Anyone. His voice lowers when he finally finds his words, and Ichigo isn't too surprised when he realizes that he's actually playing along with this. Or is he going along with it? Even he can't tell, too stunned to think that through.
"We would. But we must think this through. If there is no..." Ichigo pauses and looks around briefly, almost as if checking for anyone eavesdroppers before clearing his throat. "Should this happen, the other forces would... There would have to be someone new first before anything could be considered." There was no point in getting rid of their current master if it meant screwing everything up to the point of no return. Gloved hands curl lightly in Ichigo's lap, and he's completely aware that his palms have already gone clammy at the discussion that was currently taking place.

Betrayers never did end well, he knew of the stories back in the Warring States. Sue Harukata who cut down Ouchi Yoshitaka at Daineji had his fate sealed at Itsukushima. They saw Akechi Mitsuhide turn against Oda Nobunaga at Honnouji, and fought under his banners to ensure that the Demon King perished within the flames. Still, it was never meant to extend his reign of thirteen days, which ended at the Battle of Yamazaki.
"Which is why we need to find the right time to do so. Honestly, I am not concerned with what will happen to me, but someone has to stop this before more of us are lost."
He gives a sigh of resignation.
"Sorry about that, bringing up something so heavy. I am glad I could share my thoughts with someone though."
