corruption au meme
![]() The Sword Army pursues the Retrograding Army through history, encountering familiar settings and reliving old memories. Though strong, with every change in time and setting, the swords dread the old memories. As they fight to preserve history as it is meant to be, the Sword Army must steel their hearts and resist temptation lest they come to fight themselves… ![]() |
A popular fan theory is that the enemy swords you fight are actually your swords from an alternate universe who wished to change history. For this meme, feel free to make up your own starters or use one of the prompts below. Remember to state if your character is corrupted, not, or if you have no preference.![]() |
PROMPT IDEAS 1. How could you let this happen? They wanted to be left alone, their mood was poor, and maybe you should have noticed the signs but now that you have, it’s too late. They can’t stop these thoughts in their head and something in their soul has turned dark and ugly. Is it too late? Maybe you can get through to them… if not, are you ready to draw your sword? 2. Possession. Even the smallest trace of doubt can attract them— evil spirits. Once the dark spirit has latched on to your soul, it takes over and consumes you. Maybe the possession is gradual or maybe it happens suddenly. All you know is that everyone has regrets and anyone can doubt… this could happen to anyone. 3. Cry Wolf. We fought the same battles and shared the same meals together so it was only natural that we would be considered allies and friends. The fateful moment approaches and suddenly it is revealed: One of you is not a true friend. There is a traitor among you. 4. Becoming your own enemy. Your mission is to go back in time and let things happen as they were meant to be but their fall into despair was never supposed to happen, right? And so you went back in time to prevent their misfortunes but you keep failing again and again until, this time, you think you’ve got it. This time, you’ll be able to save your friend - but will you be able to save yourself too? 5. Reborn again. When destroyed in battle, the sword disappears only to return again anew. You can’t choose the fate you’re born with though and this time, someone has returned… from the wrong side. ![]() |

"A shame, indeed. A neverending cycle of leaving and returning to us. Can it be challenged?"
As Kogitsunemaru speaks, his voice losing its humorous tone and becoming pensive, though the smile remains.
"Tomorrow will be a rough day, won't it? You know I love a good dance, but even I have my limits."
He chuckles weakly, hoping that the meaning of his words aren't lost on the other.

From the age of the Heian period, till now they lived. Tomorrow having the prospect of possibly being their final day, one can't help but feel a surreal chill.
All things are impermanent, the prosperous must decline. Beauty is fleeting, and life is but a night's dream. Such was what the aristocrats artistically lamented.
"How long do you want to dance for, little fox?"
no subject
Kogitsunemaru lets go of his fur, letting it rest against his shoulder. He puts his hands behind his head as he reclining against a step. Quiet contemplation. Of course, he would dance as long as he could for his saniwa.
... the same that was more than likely sending them into a complete rout.
"For my master, I will dance as long as I must."
He swallows.

Kogitsunemaru's refined confidence was something he could admire, though even the sword touched by the divine fox still had his doubts.
Who wouldn't, when faced with the prospect of a great trial ahead.
"You really do love our master, don't you..." How admirable it is, loyalty. The greatest virtue that had names like Mori Ranmaru and Otani Yoshitsugu go down in history.

He looks to the side, with that uncomfortable feeling welling up in his chest for the hundredth time. All he could do is force another insincere smile.
"Like I said, I will dance. I may not like it, I may disagree... but if it means others have a chance to escape and get home safely?"
Loyalty. Kogitsunemaru closes his eyes. Red orbs, swimming in resignation, hidden so Mikazuki could not see them. His real loyalty lies with his companions, the ones who stand beside him and fight and bring him happiness and joy... the ones that remain.
"I don't want to come home alone, either."
no subject
"We share the same sentiments, it seems."
Suddenly, finding an ideal way to phrase what he was going to say seemed a lot harder than he thought, but no matter.
"I am worried that you might not come home, which is why I might not be making it back tomorrow."
no subject
"A home is not a home without everyone, and I can't imagine losing..."
He averts his eyes again, shaking his head internally at himself.
"I can't imagine losing our leader and one of our better strategists. You have tremendous experience and your personal knowledge has been life saving, in many instances."
The little fox resists the urge to touch Mikazuki's shoulder.
"You must come back. I'll do whatever I need to ensure it."
no subject
"I'm making a determination. Consider it as my affection towards you and the rest here." He says with an unfaltering, casual grin.
"But I'm not going to sacrifice myself on the battlefield valiantly, in case you were thinking so."
no subject
What is the strategy, then? Is it something that unusual? Surely, a war council wouldn't have been called unless it was something far more drastic, right?
"Tell me your plan, Mikazuki. Trust this little fox."
Knowing might help him sleep for one final night.
