VACATION IS WHERE I WANNA BE
 ☼ BEACH VACATION MEME ☼ Summer begins, and the saniwa's army earns a well deserved vacation. All expenses paid for by their organization, from travel to lodging to food, and yes, even the swim wear and toys. The water is blue, the skies are (mostly) clear, and it's time to have some fun at the beach! Watch out for the jellyfish and KBseagulls. ***Feel free to include some prompts in your top level. If you can't think of any, pick from below for some ideas!** 001.IN THE WATER This is why you're here, right? Take to the water and splash around. Now might be a good time to learn to swim if you don't already. But watch out! Here comes a large wave--! 002.SANDCASTLES This is it... the enemy's stronghold... not! It's a race against the clock to build a castle before the tide comes in. Collect those seashells, fortify your fortress, and don't be a jerk and ruin some else's castle. 003.SUNBATHING or maybe you've opted to sit under the shade of a large umbrella instead. Some times it's good to just sit back, relax, and watch to make sure no one needs to be rescued later. Keep an eye on the tide or you might find yourself getting wet anyway. 004. BEACH ANIMALS There are tiny fish in the tide pools, crabs crawling around, and uwah are those sea turtles?! Tsurumaru, put that octopus down right now. Ouch, did that jellyfish get you? And look, over there! That's a dolphin! You know, dolphins are intelligent creatures and have been known to help people-- WAIT NO ITS A SHARK ITS A SHARK NOT A FRIENDLY FISH IT LOOKS LIKE A DOLPHIN BUT ITS A SHARK. 005.MELON SLICING The organization has been kind enough to provide food and drink as well. They must have felt very clever sending all of those watermelons, though. Really, who needs that many watermelons? It's a competition to see which sword is the True Melonslasher. 006.STORM Those clouds came in so quickly, you barely had a chance to notice. The sky is dark, the rain is pouring down, and the wind is blowing cold. It's time to quickly collect your things and try to find some place dry. 007.KBCGULLS. Oh no, who fed the seagulls? They're circling around like vultures and making swoops at you, trying to steal your food. Hey, wait, that's not even edible! Was it just you or was there an evil glint in that bird's eye just now...? 008.BEACH PARTY. All of those watermelons you sliced earlier are being put to use. The sun is setting, the food is out, and a bonfire is going on the beach. Eat your heart out and dance around the fire. Watch the sunset, look at the stars, this sure is nice, isn't it? 009.WILDCARD. Mix and match. Create your own prompt. Find the dragon king's palace or something. |

[ hachisuka might not be quite as fussy with his appearance as kashuu, but he's still been well taken-care of over the centuries, the sword of a very well-to-do family, and so he likes to take care of his looks. with that said, between the heat and the harsh salt water, he's chosen to curl up under an umbrella and read. sure, being a spirit, it's not like a sunburn would last, but better safe than sorry, right? every now and then, he'll glance up, blue eyes unerringly finding urashima across the sand. doubtless the fake is also keeping an eye on hachi's precious little brother, but he doesn't trust him to do it properly.

[ when he finally gets under shelter, hachisuka is soaked, his hair is sticking to everything, and he looks extremely annoyed. he's scowling faintly as he turns to the person beside him. ]
Do you have a towel I could use? [ he starts carefully gathering the long, tangled strands of his hair, frowning mournfully at them as he cautiously tries to fingercomb a few of them. ] What a miserable day this has turned out to be.

[ he huffs, tossing his hair over his shoulder and deliberately turning away from urashima and nagasone. jealous. jealous. why would he be jealous? nagasone isn't even really their brother. ]

I reckon he can handle it, though. [ He nods toward Nagasone. ] Looks awfully reliable to me.

I wouldn't be so sure. [ after all, they'd both been taken by the kebishii. hachisuka still worries vaguely that urashima will get snatched back up somehow, a fear that won't leave him no matter how much he tries to banish it. ] He's far too easygoing with Urashima. He should watch him closer.

Oh, he'll be fine. Hotarumaru's with him. [ Like that's supposed to make Hachisuka feel better... ] You worry too much, Hachisuka-san.
[ He says that, but while he isn't looking, a huge wave approaches... ]

.. wait. wait a minute, is that--?!
hachisuka starts up, clambering off his towel, probably about to book it over the sand toward urashima, but.. nagasone sweeps in at the last moment, hauling both urashima and hotarumaru up under his arms, letting the wave sweep around them. when it pulls back again, everyone seems to be laughing.
hachi breathes a sigh, dropping back on the towel again and pressing his hand over his eyes. honestly, can a tsukumogami have heart problems?! because one of these days he's going to have a heart-attack. ]

[He'd stopped by to grab something out of the cooler, but Hachisuka's eagle-eyed attention is hard to miss...]

he glances up as he realizes that the other spirit is talking to him, blinking once before closing his book. ]
I'm just keeping an eye on Urashima. [ he frowns faintly, glance drifting back toward the pair at the water's edge. he tries not to say anything disparaging about nagasone around the other shinsengumi blades, because he knows the fake is one of their loved ones, but there's no denying the fact that hachisuka's thinking it. (maybe one day, he'll admit that nagasone isn't so bad.) ] The waves are getting bigger, don't you think?

But wow, Hachisuka gets points for trying, maybe. Whether it's out of the goodness of his heart or because he doesn't want to deal with Kashuu in a bad mood is irrelevant!! Or so Kashuu decides, anyway. He squints out over toward the water's edge after the question, measuring the visible waves.]
—Wind, maybe? [It has been getting steadily windier over the last hour or so...] It'll be fine. Horikawa said the tide's not supposed to come in for a while, too.
[And he's entirely certain that Nagasone will do a good job at keeping an eye on Urashima even if the tide did rise, but he decides to be merciful and keep that thought to himself.]
