☼ BEACH VACATION MEME ☼ Summer begins, and the saniwa's army earns a well deserved vacation. All expenses paid for by their organization, from travel to lodging to food, and yes, even the swim wear and toys. The water is blue, the skies are (mostly) clear, and it's time to have some fun at the beach! Watch out for the jellyfish and KBseagulls. ***Feel free to include some prompts in your top level. If you can't think of any, pick from below for some ideas!** 001.IN THE WATER This is why you're here, right? Take to the water and splash around. Now might be a good time to learn to swim if you don't already. But watch out! Here comes a large wave--! 002.SANDCASTLES This is it... the enemy's stronghold... not! It's a race against the clock to build a castle before the tide comes in. Collect those seashells, fortify your fortress, and don't be a jerk and ruin some else's castle. 003.SUNBATHING or maybe you've opted to sit under the shade of a large umbrella instead. Some times it's good to just sit back, relax, and watch to make sure no one needs to be rescued later. Keep an eye on the tide or you might find yourself getting wet anyway. 004. BEACH ANIMALS There are tiny fish in the tide pools, crabs crawling around, and uwah are those sea turtles?! Tsurumaru, put that octopus down right now. Ouch, did that jellyfish get you? And look, over there! That's a dolphin! You know, dolphins are intelligent creatures and have been known to help people-- WAIT NO ITS A SHARK ITS A SHARK NOT A FRIENDLY FISH IT LOOKS LIKE A DOLPHIN BUT ITS A SHARK. 005.MELON SLICING The organization has been kind enough to provide food and drink as well. They must have felt very clever sending all of those watermelons, though. Really, who needs that many watermelons? It's a competition to see which sword is the True Melonslasher. 006.STORM Those clouds came in so quickly, you barely had a chance to notice. The sky is dark, the rain is pouring down, and the wind is blowing cold. It's time to quickly collect your things and try to find some place dry. 007.KBCGULLS. Oh no, who fed the seagulls? They're circling around like vultures and making swoops at you, trying to steal your food. Hey, wait, that's not even edible! Was it just you or was there an evil glint in that bird's eye just now...? 008.BEACH PARTY. All of those watermelons you sliced earlier are being put to use. The sun is setting, the food is out, and a bonfire is going on the beach. Eat your heart out and dance around the fire. Watch the sunset, look at the stars, this sure is nice, isn't it? 009.WILDCARD. Mix and match. Create your own prompt. Find the dragon king's palace or something.

[ Calling HIM a THIEF? This is why someone isn't getting this sand dollar back, it's his now. All his. Now, what's important is that it's in Yamato's grasp and with a smile, he still does not hand it over when the way the other spoke indicates that he found it first and that the uchigatana swiped it off his castle. ]

You haven't? I'm sure if we look hard enough, we could probably find more. Recently, I ran into many of these squishy creatures not too long ago after finding one of them. So it could be the same like this piece I found.

[ Pointing towards the shore, he waits to see if the other will walk along with him or not though, why are his arms crossed? Is he angry about something? Well, he should ask, they're fellow Shinsengumi after all. ]

ah yes, his 'can't deal with this shit' pose combined with a 'i'm extremely disappointed right now' expression usually saved for kane-san's annoying habits and attitude. horikawa huffs. ]

regardless, he'll follow yamato while thinking of ways to re-acquire his precious thing. ]

[ JUST CHILL OUT! Chill out maybe? What has Yamatonokami Yasusada done wrong but find his own sand dollar? Maybe someone should have stayed by their castle if they really wanted it? If the scarf is gone, someone is going to be missing an arm.. just remember that.

Of course. HE KNOWS better that Horikawa wouldn't make such actions towards him, Yamato hasn't done anything to gain a scolding. ]

In the sand? I wonder..

[ Getting down to his knees, he places his hands onto the sand, pushing it away so that he could slightly dig in one area. If the other was right here, do you think it would be nearby? Or maybe where he's looking? He doesn't see anything and his acts of help come to an end as he gets back to his feet. ]

Aaah, I don't see anything? But we'll be able to find some near the shore I hope so I'll give you majority of what I get, alright?

[ With the other following, Yamato tucks the sand dollar into the scarf around his neck so that it doesn't go missing at all. ]

[ HE'S CHILL, HE'S CHILL. you're right, yamato would be spared the wrath of a wakazashi scorned for now. they are allies, shinsengumi and otherwise.

he also drops to his knees, gently pushing sand aside to look for more special shells. there are some nice ones buried, but nothing like the one that apparently doesn't belong to him anymore. UGH. no, he's chill. don't worry. and yamato's offer of sharing some of what he finds is so kind... ah, okay, he'll try not to be upset... ]

[ Oh my god this is not chill.. someone needs to take a nap because they arent chilling out.

This is so stressful, Yamato is trying his best to appease a certain SOMEONE and they just wont chill out.. just calm down. Yamato got this item fair and square!!! ]

[ It isn't long until they're just a few steps away from the sea shore, the various shells that's been brought up because of the oceans waves. They're beautiful to see and with the sun shining on them, it's almost as if they're sparkling. ]

We all should come back to this place more often, it gives such nice and tranquil view. Don't you think?

[ fine, fine... horikawa will find his inner chill place, seeing as yamato is indeed genuinely trying to help him. and the sight is pretty amazing with how the light reflects off of the shells and how the water sparkles just enough. it's picturesque! shame they couldn't get the same effect back at the citadel. ]

It does. [ he'll smile at the other, putting a hand on his hip and leaning a little to the side. ] Think we'll be allowed to come back? [ he's unsure if this is a one-time thing, whether the organization behind it all would allow another vacation... or whether either of them would see another one. ]

[ Please find that chill, Yamato is tired and how much trouble would he get into if he attacked a fellow comrade!!! ]

Huh.. I can't really say. There's so much we have to do, it can't be helped that if we never see this place again or when we do.. how different it may look. [ Laughing softly to himself, he hopes that if they're able to see this place again - it still looks this beautiful. Besides, this place does give everyone a piece of mind and he's noticed that some are much more happier than he's believed he's ever seen them. ]

If we don't come back, it's just that we have to make the best of what they've given us, huh..?

[ if they did fight, hopefully it would just be a slap battle or something innocuous. he wouldn't ever want to hurt yamato seriously, but a bonk on the head or maybe a few pokes to the ribs wouldn't be that bad, right? not to mention the saniwa would be upset if they did do anything serious.

also he'd win, but that's not the point. ]

... our memories, then. [ he nods as he stares back at the sand, eyes combing through shells that are washed up on shore before looking over. ]

Yamato-kun, will you promise you'll remind me of this time if I ever forget?

[ To hear something like that, he can only chuckle to himself since he isn't to good at latching onto things of the future. It feels like something he could let go any minute if it meant to continue holding onto his memories of the past. A slight hum as he thinks about an answer, he already knows it but he wonders if there's an optional one he could choose. What he comes to is more vague than a response that could have been said with a yes or a no. ]

I don't think you should count on me for something like that.

[ Not that Yamato isn't reliable because he is, he isn't sure if he'll even remember this himself. He doesn't know if this is something he'd want to remember aside from everyone else having a good time. As much as the past dwells in his mind on replay, over and over again, he doesn't know if there's any more room to hold onto what everyone is sharing during this time. ]

I'm sure you'll remember it without my help.

[ Crouching down so he can pick up a few of the sea shells so that he can hand it over to the other. ]

I heard you can hear the sea in shells? That's why they're called seashells I guess. I wonder if these are the ones?

Then I'll try to remember for the both of us. Just in case, alright?

[ peace is brief. happiness is brief. he's completely aware of his own memories of the past, just like how yamato is. he just wants to keep the happiness going, yeah? keep all the positivity that the rest of them were feeling. that'd be worth it. for a second, horikawa feels cold even though the air is pleasantly warm.

it's the water that chills him, even though he's not touching it.

but no no no, that's not okay! this isn't the time. he's kind of sorry for bringing it up, but it's something that's been on his mind before. horikawa will take the seashell (a conch? maybe a smaller one?) and put it to his ear. ]

... do you hear it, too? [ yamato is listening to one as well, right? he hopes he doesn't look too silly. ]

It would be worthwhile if you made sure to remember more for you than me?

[ That isn't rude to say is it? He hopes not, it's just that he knows there are better things in the world for people to do. Besides, Yamato's happiness and he memories aren't what's important at all. It's that the people or comrades that he speaks to and hearing what they enjoy seems to be. He is a caretaker in a way and it would be unforgivable to have this focus on him as well.

Perhaps the other didn't hear him from how he sets the shell against his hear to listen, possibly looking for whatever sounds could be heard. Is it the right kind? Can he hear something? The uchigatana stares just a bit as if he's searching for something but seeing that the wakizashi is trying, he searches on the ground for another one of the same kind the other has.

It doesn't take long to fine it, placing it next to his ear in order to find something he can hear. The waves that crash back and forth nearby is giving Yamato a hard time so with a tilt of his head, he hums softly to himself as he sits down on the sand. ]

You must be luckier than me to hear it.. I'm glad one of us can hear the ocean locked away in such a small item.
