[The Citadel is huge, so it's a good thing they have all the time in the world to dick around.
--Well, no, they don't. But the point is, it's a free day. There will be absolutely no work done at all. Unless you want to or something. If you do, you're pretty weird.
The dojo is always open for sparring and practice. If there's any sparring errand you've slacked on, now's the chance to make up! The horse stables are also full of activity, whether the horses are being tended to or rode around-- be careful not to let them trample the fields, though, which is full of rice sprouts and budding cabbage. The lake in front of the saniwa(s)' room has tiny frogs jumping about, and you could catch them in the palm of your hand.
The kitchen is full of food, if you're volunteering to make lunch or have decided that meal time cannot possibly come any later and you simply must prepare something before you die from starvation. While there has been a considerable effort made to make the Citadel look as homely as possible to the swords which come from Japan's past, there's speckles of technology here and there.
The TV room is a good example, with a huge screen sitting on top of a few console systems. Don't break them, you'll only be getting this luxury once. Take turns and play nice. The swords may also find themselves tending the fields with water sprinklers and hoses instead of watering cans, for instance, or heating up some leftover pie in the fridge instead of making another one from scratch since there's technology to preserve food well over a week. The armory and smithy are definitely a little bit more modern than they'd be back in the past, though much is still made by hand-- nothing beats the fine work of a master. Perhaps you'll have a few new friends today, or you want to try creating a cute little soldier spirits todie for you accompany you in battle. Make sure they enter the orb completely, or else it'll turn brown and crack.
Or perhaps you're one of the unlucky swords still stuck in the repair room, sword body still being re-smelted and fixed. Hope the saniwa is good at making you all shiny. If you want to skip all that waiting, perhaps you can try to use a helper token... but they're all in the saniwa's room! Guess you've got to use that Camouflage stat...
But if you truly cannot bear with staying in the Citadel, the time device the saniwa(s) have isn't locked away. You can go on sorties or expeditions to fill your time with something productive.
Just a warning: don't change the past. You won't succeed.
...You could always try, though.]

Repair room
It also looks like he hasn't had anything to drink either. Hotarumaru will have to fix that, right? He darts into the kitchen and starts to prepare something really special! He made a mess out of the place and his clothes, but that's something he'll have to worry about later.
A while later, he finally returns. First he peeks in to make sure Jirou is still there, and yep! Of course. ]
Jirou... [ He slowly approaches the other oodachi and carefully sits down in front of him. Then he holds out a cup filled with a sweet smelling, light green liquid. There's ice in it to keep it cool! ] Muscat wine!
[ It's actually just juice. Hotarumaru doesn't know how to make wine.... ]

Oh.
The day really hasn't been going well for Jiroutachi but this bright little spark of a blade takes some of the weight off his shoulders. With a grin, Jiroutachi accepts the cup and tips it a little towards Hotarumaru to show his gratitude.]
Did you prepare this all by yourself, Hotarumaru?
[And he's so, so glad it's alcohol, even if it's been handed to him by someone who looks like a minor because this will mute the dull throbbing in the back of his head-
Jiroutachi takes a sip.
It's not alcohol.
... ...]
It's really good!

[ Hotarumaru is very pleased to have Jiroutachi's approval. He put in a lot of effort in order to cheer his comrade up. Having something refreshing to drink will hopefully help kill the time. ]
I can make more for you next time.
[ And hopefully, it won't be in the repair room again. They go well with snacks, but they really shouldn't be eating in here. ]
So get better soon, Jirou!
[ Hotaru also presents a brush, hoping to help fix the other's hair while he's busy enjoying his drink. ]

[If only it contained alcohol sob.
But really, it's the thought that counts and Hotarumaru could have easily walked by and ignored Jiroutachi's situation in order to play a game or find someone else to hang out with. Instead, he's come here to keep Jiroutachi company and that warms his heart.]
And if I'm in your capable hands, I'm sure I'll be better soon.
[Happily, Jiroutachi reaches out and pats Hotarumaru's head as he places the cup down so he can remove the accessories from his hair.]
Do you want to help me with my hair?
no subject
Yes please!
[ He really wants to! Once given permission, he quickly scoots closer to Jiroutachi. His fingers gently run through those long, silky locks first. As expected, it would be very nice and smooth like this. He only needed to brush it out just a tiny bit. ]
Your hair will look all pretty and stylish again, just like the way it was before.
[ Be brushes his hair carefully and gently until it's all neat and tidy again. ]
Brush, brush, brush ♪!
no subject
It's his enthusiasm and his cheer which makes Jiroutachi's fingers finally unclench from around the sake jug, carefully setting it aside in order to drink more juice.]
Any recommendation on how I should wear it today?
[Usually, Jiroutachi is very picky about who gets to touch his hair since he is a rather vain person. However, Hotarumaru is being very good at not tugging at snags and he's only trying to cheer Jiroutachi up. Even a blind person would be able to see that.
A laugh escapes Jiroutachi's lips as he glances over his shoulder though it dims into a puzzled expression once he gets a good look at Hotarumaru's clothes.]
Did you get your clothes dirty?
no subject
Mmm, that's hard to say. You always look nice regardless.
[ It must be tough having to keep up with so much hair like this. But for anybody that's able to take care of it and maintain it so well, it must be an achievement. That's why Hotarumaru continues to treat Jirou's hair with utmost care.
He might not get another chance like this if he did something wrong... ]
Ah... I did have a little trouble in the kitchen, but I made sure to wash my hands before and after.
[ He wouldn't try to touch if his hands were all sticky and gross. ]
I'll change my clothes after I take care of you.
no subject
Other people wished they were as good at it as he is.
...And Hotarumaru is too kind if he ignored his own dirty clothes in order to cheer Jiroutachi up. Isn't this where people catch colds from? ...Not that they can catch colds. Right?]
That won't do, Hotarumaru. Here.
[And from the depths of his spare outfit, Jiroutachi pulls out a handkerchief, turning around and leaning down so he can rub at the sticky smuge on Hotarumaru's face.]
You've got to look your best, too!
