[The Citadel is huge, so it's a good thing they have all the time in the world to dick around.
--Well, no, they don't. But the point is, it's a free day. There will be absolutely no work done at all. Unless you want to or something. If you do, you're pretty weird.
The dojo is always open for sparring and practice. If there's any sparring errand you've slacked on, now's the chance to make up! The horse stables are also full of activity, whether the horses are being tended to or rode around-- be careful not to let them trample the fields, though, which is full of rice sprouts and budding cabbage. The lake in front of the saniwa(s)' room has tiny frogs jumping about, and you could catch them in the palm of your hand.
The kitchen is full of food, if you're volunteering to make lunch or have decided that meal time cannot possibly come any later and you simply must prepare something before you die from starvation. While there has been a considerable effort made to make the Citadel look as homely as possible to the swords which come from Japan's past, there's speckles of technology here and there.
The TV room is a good example, with a huge screen sitting on top of a few console systems. Don't break them, you'll only be getting this luxury once. Take turns and play nice. The swords may also find themselves tending the fields with water sprinklers and hoses instead of watering cans, for instance, or heating up some leftover pie in the fridge instead of making another one from scratch since there's technology to preserve food well over a week. The armory and smithy are definitely a little bit more modern than they'd be back in the past, though much is still made by hand-- nothing beats the fine work of a master. Perhaps you'll have a few new friends today, or you want to try creating a cute little soldier spirits todie for you accompany you in battle. Make sure they enter the orb completely, or else it'll turn brown and crack.
Or perhaps you're one of the unlucky swords still stuck in the repair room, sword body still being re-smelted and fixed. Hope the saniwa is good at making you all shiny. If you want to skip all that waiting, perhaps you can try to use a helper token... but they're all in the saniwa's room! Guess you've got to use that Camouflage stat...
But if you truly cannot bear with staying in the Citadel, the time device the saniwa(s) have isn't locked away. You can go on sorties or expeditions to fill your time with something productive.
Just a warning: don't change the past. You won't succeed.
...You could always try, though.]

horikawa; OTA (feel free to be his saniwa!)
B
"feel free to be my husband/wife", you mean
It's afternoon by the time she's finished with her work and she knows she can rest for a while. Closing her eyes, she visualises the map of the citadel in her head and--heads into the TV room. Without saying a word, Anna runs with little steps to the couch and takes a seat quietly beside him, eyes focused on the television as it brings up a set of red pots and pans... (It's like the television knows.) ]
Red...
my mind is already read... and this is cute already too, omg. >:'c
[ Right, right. Horikawa has not forgotten about his super cute
wife'smaster's enamor for crimson-colored objects. His eyes light up as he watches Anna's expression, as well as the beautiful red pot set. Come to think of it, didn't one of the swords complain about something related recently? About the fact that some of their kitchen's pans are already withering from mistreatment... (The swords that can't cook should really be banned from the kitchen!!)This might be the best opportunity for it. There appears to be a discount right now, too! So he quickly takes down the phone number, with the intention to call it up after talking it over with his precious master. After securing the number correctly, he pats her head once gently to get her attention. After all, she seems to be immersed in the cooking demonstration right about now. ]
Master, what do you think we should do?
a
He doesn't see Horikawa immediately, so his first reaction, upon thinking he's alone, is...
...to go down on his knees and sniff the floor, before scampering towards whatever direction he thinks the smell is coming from.
He's not this much of a dog in public, okay.]
no subject
Or at least, he's trying to. He watches the blonde sword crawling around like a puppy, keeping his straight poise as much as possible. Don't flinch. Don't flinch. Don't kyaa. Don't kyaa. Damn it! ]
Um, Shishio-san? What are you looking for?
[ He's holding the tray; the source of all the good scents in the air. He has a feeling that he knows the answer, but he'll ask anyway. ]
no subject
Gao?
[Shishiō tilts his head up, and you can almost see the ? next to his head.] Why do you smell like peanut butter?
[Because he made something for you, dumbass.]
no subject
puppyother sword (Good boy, good boy!), then follows up with revealing the dishes that he's prepared for him. It's easier to give him the answer this way. ]Your senses are sharp as usual. [ The master will be proud. Anyway! ] Here, these are for you!
[ Still holding the tray, he now nudges it forward in order for Shishio's attention to divert towards it. Pan fried chicken, fried rice, mushroom soup, peanut butter brownies. ]
no subject
Were you petting me?! I'm not-- [--a dog, he wants to say, but suddenly his head snaps towards where the food is. His nue follows suit, and they both stare at the food.
YOU CAN PET HIM ALL YOU WANT, HORIKAWA, THE FOOD IS WHAT REALLY MATTERS]
Really...? Really?! Hell yes! I'm going to eat everything!
[He goes soup for the soup first, taking the bowl and dunking it down his mouth, right there-- the nue licks of any of the soup that drips down his mouth. That's kinda gross, but w/e.]
combines and conquers--!!!
Even so, once his spirit catches up with his body, he takes his time to enjoy the food that was left out for him before proceeding to look for the person that made all that possible. His self-appointed assistant. He assumed he would find him going about some other task - so he was a bit surprised to see him seated in front of the television following some program.
Curiosity begs him to stop and watch whatever it is that's got Horikawa's attention. No interruptions from him - in fact, he probably hadn't made a sound at all, despite his sleepy shuffling. ]
SUCH POWER...!!!
There seems to be a sale being promoted on horse care items. Once in a while, it's nice to spoil their four-legged friends... And who wouldn't want to buy their beloved horse the best quality nourishment? The horse shampoos of the modern era is so magnificent... There's even baby powder scents! Cute... It's too cute. ]
Uwah... I wonder if the horses will like these?
YOU'RE EMBARRASSING ME AGAIN
...well, he's not about to interrupt. No need to provoke more fussing - it's a free day after all, the wakizashi could do as he liked with it.
That decided, it was just a matter of deciding what he should be doing. While returning to bed was rather tempting, it wasn't practical. He'd just have to accept the fact that he was awake now. However, for now, he doesn't exactly have plans so - he settles for silently choosing to take a seat next to the wakizashi and mindlessly observe the program while his mind catches up with his body. ]
NO EMBARRASSMENT, ONLY ADMIRATION AND LOVE C:
[ Despite their modernized lifestyle now, the taller sword remains the same. Horikawa lets out a faint giggle at the thought. Kane looks so innocent, so adorable while he's still half-asleep. That's why he doesn't mind even if Kane would remain like that for a while longer, especially considering that it's a free day.
Looks like he finished the breakfast he left for him already. He learned to be able to tell if his partner already ate or not. So what can they do for today? He'll leave it up to the other sword. ]
You're just in time to see this. Isn't our master's world fascinating?
TOO LATE //////
[ Adapting was important - that was a lesson he'd learned well. But he still didn't feel like all things should have to change.
Certainly, if there was work to be done, it would be important to quickly pull one's self together, however he doesn't feel like it's necessary today. There's no sense of the usual impending deadlines and the idea of things that needed tending. If it was time like this, then it was probably okay to be a little lazy. At the same time he wondered how it was possible for the other to look so positively bright all the time like that. It was one of those weird charm points of his though. ]
Is this what you've been watching all morning?
[ He could see how it could be addictive - it was curious and in it's own way, informative. Aside from that the prices were also rather good ones. It didn't seem like such a bad way to pass the time. Although, he supposed the company did have a little effect on that. Despite himself, he felt like smiling a bit. ]
OH WELL THEN /// CONTINUES TO GENTLY LOVE...
[ Now the two of them can learn about horse shampoo together! But before that... Horikawa notices that Kane's elegant kimono is wrinkled a little and hair ruffled slightly. That's no good. Even if they're only at home today, physical appearance is still important. (His partner is a respected sword, after all!) That's why Horikawa helped him change out of his pajamas earlier, as well as comb and dress his hair; but as Kane was half-asleep, it was expected for these to get a little messy again.
The fussing begins once more. Horikawa always has a comb ready in his pocket for cases like these. He takes it, then begins straightening and smoothing out those beautiful long, ebony strands before him one more time. It's not that messy, because it wasn't that long ago that he already placed the back ribbon and braided the side. All it needs is a little fix... He follows up with aligning the kimono properly. ]
Kane-san, you're beautiful as always.
RETURNS THAT LOVE DOUBLE.... ///////
A
But thankfully, it seems Horikawa has taken it upon himself to brighten her morning.
There is still warm miso soup waiting on a tray, right next to some steamed rice and a handful of gentle, yellow rolls of tamagoyaki. Koharu's blinks owlishly for a few seconds before struggling to sit up.
Whoever has left the breakfast for her is probably still around. And breakfast always tastes better with someone else.
It's a struggle to get dressed quickly, too many layers that require Koharu's attention but once she manages it, she picks up the tray and hurries out the door.
Time to say thank you. ]

[ It's always a treat to see his lovely master up and about. Horikawa pauses from watering the potted plants in the hallway in favor of properly facing his young mistress. He's smiling so happily, eager to hear Koharu's soothing voice to say his name.
But after noticing that she hasn't eaten the meal he's prepared yet, he has to wonder why that is. He's so sure that the meal is to her taste... Could it be that she doesn't have an appetite today? Could she... be falling ill!? He leans in a little, wanting to see if that was the case. ]
no subject
[ While her eyes still look rather sleepy, Koharu's smile is as bright as it can be this early in the morning. Horikawa seems to be busying himself as always, making breakfast, watering the flowers... Knowing him, he will most likely run off to find another task after finishing the current one. ]
Did you leave this for me?
[ She lifts the tray a little to show it and what it is carrying to him. The miso soup smells utterly delicious and her stomach growls a little in response. ]
no subject
Yes, I did. But is there something wrong? You haven't touched it...
[ Horikawa is used to labor, so he's pretty sure that he didn't do anything wrong. But it's still possible that something did. After all, there are many who stay in the citadel. One of the swords might have accidentally knocked an extra ingredient or two in the cooking pot... ]
no subject
No, I just wanted to-
[ She pauses momentarily. It didn't occur to her that he might not want to be around while she eats. But then she smiles again, expression hopeful and tone a little bashful. ]
...I was wondering if we could eat breakfast together?
(no subject)
(no subject)
b
...Ooh, it's the TV. And they're advertising pet toys, apparently! Hope you don't mind someone standing somewhere in your peripheral vision and watching from there.]
no subject
The wakizashi noticed that the current program might have caught their attention... That's right, isn't it? The little fox and maybe Nakigitsune himself might really appreciate playing with these toys. Geez, he's surrounded by such cute friends. ]
Hello! Did something catch your attention?
no subject
But yes, when he gestures at them, Nakigitsune hesitates for just a moment before moving to join him on the sofa (but not too close). The fox speaks up to answer Horikawa's question, of course.]
We heard strange voices in this room! But it was only the television.
[They're both kinda glancing back and forth between the TV and the person they're talking to...]
a.
something smells very, very good.
abandoning his quest for his portable hair-tie half-way, he makes his way over to where the smell is emanating from. where is the smell of intensely spicy curry coming from, and who does he have to shank to get a piece of it? ]
B
Not that hundreds of miles would be taxing for any sword like him to handle. But it was sure to wear them out.
So once Kogitsunemaru's chores were done, he took a bath and he now padding over to the TV room. Where Horikawa is watching...
Huh.
That person on TV is really flexible. And also rather naked.]
Are you sure this is what you wanted to watch, Horikawa?
a
Well, he have done a lot of things to disturb his sleep, but baiting him up with good aroma like this is something new. Groaning slightly, the tachi rises from his futon just to see a... Horikawa? Cue Ookurikara staring, in the mixture of confusion and groggy. ]
What are you doing here?
