( It’s been a slow day at the citadel, at least, for actual shounen-notmermaid-turned-person, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki. He’s finished his field work with plenty of time and energy to spare and without any missions to go on, he’s decided to have some fun for himself.
… Unfortunately, a certain saniwa has hidden their phone away. Wow, talk about no fun. He really wanted to play that one game again. You know, that one game everyone is playing these days according to the colorful ads on tv. He was getting the hang of it the other day. Actually, he’s pretty sure he was even winning! And he was making so many new friends with those “invites.” Well, you can hide your technology from Mutsu but you can't defeat him.
As much as he enjoys this new time, he still enjoys a lot of the old traditions, just like his first master. Which is why you can find him outside, crouched on the ground in front of a small fire pit, roasting some yams he picked while working the field earlier. It's a little out of season but the seasons don't run his life, they don't control his story.
Before you can ask (were you even going to?) Mutsu notices you hanging around and beckons to come over. Yes, even if you’re a particularly stubborn Shinsengumi sword. )
Hey! C'mon over here!

Hey! C'mon over here!
theres too much shonen spirit up in here
Just don't wear yourself out too much, okay? [ haru appreciates the enthusiasm that mutsu brings to pretty much everything he does, but he also doesn't want him crashing too hard later. he'd feel pretty guilty about it, even if it wasn't really his fault.
he watches in something like puzzled amusement as the blade sorts through his yams for one he thinks is right for haru. the one he pulls out is still much too big, but he put so much work into choosing it that the teenager doesn't have the heart to tell him that. instead, he accepts the stick, holding the yam over the flames and shifting to settle more comfortably. ]
You gave up on finding my phone, then? [ a slightly arch sideways glance. ]
can you keep up with him
It'll take more than a li'l bit of field work to stop me.
( Minus the whole you know, history thing, this age is pretty easy. And at the question, Mutsu's head perks up and his eyes might get a little brighter. Is that.... hope in his eye? Clearly, he hasn't given up he was just waiting to fight another day. )
Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki never gives up.
