☼ BEACH VACATION MEME ☼ Summer begins, and the saniwa's army earns a well deserved vacation. All expenses paid for by their organization, from travel to lodging to food, and yes, even the swim wear and toys. The water is blue, the skies are (mostly) clear, and it's time to have some fun at the beach! Watch out for the jellyfish and KBseagulls. ***Feel free to include some prompts in your top level. If you can't think of any, pick from below for some ideas!** 001.IN THE WATER This is why you're here, right? Take to the water and splash around. Now might be a good time to learn to swim if you don't already. But watch out! Here comes a large wave--! 002.SANDCASTLES This is it... the enemy's stronghold... not! It's a race against the clock to build a castle before the tide comes in. Collect those seashells, fortify your fortress, and don't be a jerk and ruin some else's castle. 003.SUNBATHING or maybe you've opted to sit under the shade of a large umbrella instead. Some times it's good to just sit back, relax, and watch to make sure no one needs to be rescued later. Keep an eye on the tide or you might find yourself getting wet anyway. 004. BEACH ANIMALS There are tiny fish in the tide pools, crabs crawling around, and uwah are those sea turtles?! Tsurumaru, put that octopus down right now. Ouch, did that jellyfish get you? And look, over there! That's a dolphin! You know, dolphins are intelligent creatures and have been known to help people-- WAIT NO ITS A SHARK ITS A SHARK NOT A FRIENDLY FISH IT LOOKS LIKE A DOLPHIN BUT ITS A SHARK. 005.MELON SLICING The organization has been kind enough to provide food and drink as well. They must have felt very clever sending all of those watermelons, though. Really, who needs that many watermelons? It's a competition to see which sword is the True Melonslasher. 006.STORM Those clouds came in so quickly, you barely had a chance to notice. The sky is dark, the rain is pouring down, and the wind is blowing cold. It's time to quickly collect your things and try to find some place dry. 007.KBCGULLS. Oh no, who fed the seagulls? They're circling around like vultures and making swoops at you, trying to steal your food. Hey, wait, that's not even edible! Was it just you or was there an evil glint in that bird's eye just now...? 008.BEACH PARTY. All of those watermelons you sliced earlier are being put to use. The sun is setting, the food is out, and a bonfire is going on the beach. Eat your heart out and dance around the fire. Watch the sunset, look at the stars, this sure is nice, isn't it? 009.WILDCARD. Mix and match. Create your own prompt. Find the dragon king's palace or something.

[ The marshmallows look rather like very squishy round pillows and lack the golden-brown color at the edges from cooking in the bonfire. Cookie, chocolate, and marshmallow is actually supposed to be chocolate, marshmallow, and something else. That's interesting, but it tastes so good with cookies. Why isn't it normally like that? ]

So it's not usually made with cookies.

[ Yamanbagiri quickly finishes off his s'more, licking his lips after to clean off the melted chocolate and marshmallow stuck to them. ]

Nope! It's usually made with these flat cracker things that taste kinda like cinnamon.

[Which aren't bad either - he actually prefers them, since he doesn't like over-the-top sweet things. BUT STILL.]

Wanna learn how to make them?

[ He is vaguely reminded of that cereal ad on the TV at the citadel. The one with the swirls of cinnamon that that numerous people couldn't see. However, those are too small to use for something like this. ]

If you don't mind teaching someone like me.

[ He tries not to look too eager for the lesson, but the way his eyes light up at learning how to make this delicious treat gives him away. ]

'Course not! Sit, sit.

[And he'll gesture to a little clear spot next to the fire with one hand! With the other, he starts digging around in his Case Of Supplies, pulling out chocolate bars and more cookies.]

First, which type of cookie d'you want? And pick a chocolate, too.

[ He sits down as instructed, brushing aside his cloak so he doesn't sit on it. ]

... Do you have a snickerdoodle?

[ He figures it would be like the cinnamon cracker to get an idea of what it traditionally is supposed to be like. But he wasn't expecting needing to choose a chocolate too. It's too much pressure for the sword! What if he makes the wrong choice and chooses something horrible because he's a replica?! ]

And I'll stick with the chocolate you used for now.

[YAMAN GET YOUR CHILL ON IT'S JUST A S'MORE!!

But Kashuu will first pass over a similar bar of chocolate - milk chocolate, to be "traditional" or whatever - and then starts fishing around in his bag again.]

Hmm... Yep! There's a couple of them right here. [And passing two over!] Okay, now you need one of these. [Holding out... A STICK.]

[ Desserts and sweets are serious business and not something to take lightly. He takes the ingredients and lays them carefully in his lap. Yamanbagiri looks at the stick, turning it over in his hands. This must be something used to cook the s'more, or maybe he needed to help the fire stay lit. ]

What do I do with this?

You put one of these on it! Or two, I guess.

[Or like, ten if you're an oodachi... But he holds the bag of marshmallows out.]

The stick is clean, so don't worry about that. You just stick it right on and hold it over the fire until it turns brown and starts getting poofier! Be careful not to burn it.

[ At the comment about being clean, Yamanbagiri fights the urge to lift up his cloak, which is stained and tattered beyond whatever pure white cloak it once was. He is a sword who isn't worried about keeping his duplicated image clean. (And he doesn't think Kashuu would be the type to touch a dirty stick in the first place.)

But his eyes widen slightly at the idea that the poofy marshmallows can get even poofier and goes to skewer a single marshmallow. He then carefully places it near the bonfire. Once he makes one s'more successfully, he may attempt cooking more than one marshmallow at a time. ]

And then what do I do with it?

[ He has an idea of what comes next, but he wants to make sure since Kashuu is the one teaching him. ]

[EXCELLENT WORK WITH THE MARSHMALLOW, COMRADE. Kashuu's taken a second stick to skewer a marshmallow with, so he can give his mess of a s'mores a try, too.]

Then you put the chocolate on one of the cookies like this- [Showing with one hand!] -And you smush the marshmallow between them! See? Easy, right?

[Yamanbagiri is too good to him, waiting for him to finish demonstrating and all.]

[ Starter sword solidarity. Once the marshmallow is done cooking, Yamanbagiri grabs his snickerdoodles and milk chocolate to make his sandwich of campfire goodness. ]

Yes. I know what to do now.

[ He takes a bite of the treat, barely waiting for the s'more to cool enough to not burn him. He looks quite pleased by the outcome. ]

[YAMANBAGIRI don't burn yourself... But if he looks pleased, Kashuu looks pleased in turn! Clearly this is thanks in part to his excellent teaching expertise, okay.]

How'd it turn out? Is it any good with that type of cookie?

[ Sure, he'll let Kashuu be the master chef as long as he gets to eat the yummy treats. No one will believe a duplicate came up with such a thing anyways. ]

[ This is a thing that Kashuu should share and teach everyone. ]

Good! Maybe next time I'll bring some of those crackers too, just to see what it's like.

We don't have to wait for a next time. We can make these back at the citadel.

[ That blacksmith has enough fire. Maybe he'll enjoy a s'more as payment for letting them borrowing his space. S'more > another 1:30 timer. ]

[TRUE PERFECTION who wouldn't want to sit down and become part of the viewership for that?]

Oooh, we can! Y'know, I read that some people buy these metal pits that they keep outside and they can just light fires in them whenever and use it to cook stuff. Pretty weird, right?

[AH, FIREPITS... So useful when it comes to s'mores.]

[ Everyone should. Every sword wants to surprise their saniwa with yummy things. Except maybe Tsurumaru. He likes surprises of his own kind. ]

I'll go on extra expeditions to get the supplies and funds needed if that's true.

[ Every other sword can do the heroic battles. He'll make sure they have a working and well stocked fire pit. It's a duty fitting for the duplicate. The saniwa will approve, right? ]

[Yeah please don't let Tsurumaru be in the kitchen if the final result is supposed to be a surprise... A SURPRISE NO ONE ELSE WOULD LIKE.]

It's fine, it's fine. We can just cook them like yams or something!

[They'll make their own fire pit that breaks all fire pit regulations... But hey, it'll be cheaper that way!]

[ Yamanbagiri goes to grab two marshmallows this time, willing to help Kashuu in his s'more experimentation. ]

The marshmallows will stick to the wrappings.

[ Or the leaves which they cook the yams in. It's very gooey.

Unless they go for a huge fire with the leaves instead of the low fire roasting kind and cook like they are doing now?! Danger in the name of cuisine?! ... Might be safer to bother the blacksmith. ]

No, no, I mean we can just use the same area and make a fire there!

[HELL YEAH DANGER IN THE NAME OF CUISINE. They can just break every rule and make an above-ground fire and it'll be great (until one of the fire-trauma swords ambles in.)

[After a second of rummaging around in his bag again, Kashuu pulls out... what basically appear to be the equivalent of larger samoas! CARAMEL, DOUBLE THE CHOCOLATE, DOUBLE THE SUGAR.]

I bet it'll be super messy but really good.

Been sleeping so much, my sleep schedule is wrecked |D;;

[ Point in another direction and say "Go find Jiji over there." They'll spend forever trying to find him. ]

I'll be careful.

[ He set them aside and concentrates on getting those two marshmallows perfectly browned. His concentration is almost comical as he stares intently on them and slowly rotates the stick for even cooking. However, the fire isn't steady like a stove. The burning wood crackles, sending licks of flame up high.

Does his marshmallows survive, or do they bubble and blacken from the intense heat? ]

Kashuu's only giving cursory glances over, anyway, because Yaman looks like he 100% has this under control. With an expression like that, who would assume differently?? So it's actually a bit of a surprise to look over and see the flames climb a little too high... One marshmallow is far back enough that it looks like it'll be fine, but the other is definitely blistering a little.]

Oh— Hey, careful with that one! You gotta turn it!

[ Yamanbagiri jerks the stick back, a little startled by Kashuu's cry. The sudden movement is enough to have that first marshmallow break free from the stick and plummet into the fire. ]

Ah--!

[ He stares at the marshmallow casualty, bubbling and melting away on the log where it fell. The air is now sweetened by the burning sugar. He's stunned, half in disbelief that part of his dessert to be has been cruelly foiled.

The second marshmallow is still salvageable for the treat. ]
